Nationwide Strike Grips Greece: 24 Hours of Transport Paralysis
A nationwide strike in Greece has brought the country's transport networks to a standstill, affecting railways, ferries, buses, taxis, and more
The Greek government will oblige certain professions and enterprises to have card terminals for online transactions in a bid to curb tax evasion and improve monitoring of money flows, Greek newspaper Kathimerini reported on Saturday citing sources.
Bars, clubs, restaurants, doctors, lawyers and professions related to home improvement such as plumbers and electricians will all be obliged to have card terminals using credit and debit cards as of August, according to the online English-language edition of the newspaper.
It will be up to the customers to decide whether they will pay for goods and services in cash or by a bank card. However, only those who pay by bank cards will be eligible for tax discounts.
Any new enterprise that applies for an operating licence will be required to have a POS terminal, according to ekathimerini.com.
