Bulgaria of Citizens Movement (DBG), a party within the Reformist Bloc, has proposed to hold consultations about the nomination of a single candidate of the bloc for the forthcoming presidential elections by the end of July.
DBG, led by Deputy Prime Minister Meglena Kuneva, is one of the political parties in the right-wing Reformist Bloc, which is the junior partner in the minority coalition government led by Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.
“The Executive Council of Bulgaria of Citizens Movement welcomes yesterday's position of the Executive Board of RB to put forward single nominations of the Bloc for President and Vice President,” DBG said in a statement on Wednesday.
Defence Minister Nikolay Nenchev, who is chairman of BZNS, another political party within the Reformist Bloc, told reporters on Tuesday that the partners in the bloc had declared their willingness to immediately launch consultations over nominating single candidates for president and vice president.
Bulgaria will hold presidential elections in the autumn. Incumbent President Rosen Plevneliev has said he won’t seek a second five-year term of office. GERB, the dominant partner in the coalition government, have said they have decided on their candidate for president but disclosed no name.
GERB leader Boyko Borissov reacted to the fall of the Zhelyazkov government during a live broadcast on his official Facebook page, following the mass protests across the country.
The government is making a second clumsy attempt to introduce the state budget.
