The car bomb attack in Turkish capital Ankara, which left at least 28 people dead on Wednesday, was committed by outlawed PKK group and people with links to the "Kurdish militia" in Syria, the country's Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has said.

At least nine people suspected of being linked to the attack have been apprehended.

Davutoglu, quoted by Anadolu Agency, has added the perpetrator was a Syrian national linked to YPG, the militia founded by the Syrian Kurds' PYD party which now also has links to other Kurdish organizations in the country.

At least 61 people were left injured. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Edrogan vowed to retaliate.

The developments come as Turkey is carrying out strikes on PKK targets in Iraq.

Erdogan voiced his hope that Turkey's allies will "finally understand" the YPG is a terrorist organization, in a reference to a visit by US officials to Kurdish-controlled territories in Syria which sparked outrage from Ankara.

Turkish media outlets, quoted by German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, meanwhile report the perpetrator entered Turkey as a refugee.
