Bulgaria Sees Strong Growth in New Car Sales

One of the two attackers of a cash security van in the Bulgarian town of Sredets, Burgas Region, has confessed to an armed robbery attempt, the Ministry of the Interior said on Monday.
A 20-year old man, identified only as B.B., was arrested by police earlier on Monday shortly after he fled the scene of the attempted armed robbery of the security van parked in front of the post office in the town.
A security guard shot dead the other attacker, identified only as 20-year old H.B., a cousin of B.B.
The security van carried BGN 140,000 (EUR 70,000) for pension payments to residents of the town, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
B.B. confessed that he had been armed with a gas handgun and a canister of incapacitating spray. According to the plan of the robbers, B.B. was to divert the attention of the two security guards while H.B. was to get into the driver’s seat, turn on the engine of the van and drive away.
The security guards resisted the robbery attempt and shot dead H.B. They were questioned by police and later released.
No charges have been brought against the security guards, acoording to the statement. The authorities will launch a separate investigation into the death of H.B.
