The Bulgarian Agrarian National Union (BZNS) and the People's Party for Freedom and Dignity (NPSD) have demanded that the Reformist Bloc, a loose coalition of parties of which they are members, should continue to exist.

This came just before the start of an extraordinary meeting of Reformist Bloc (RB) members at which the alliance is to decide whether to support the government of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB), one of the core RB parties, last week withdrew its support from the Bulgarian cabinet, saying it would act as an opposition party. It made the announcement after Hristo Ivanov resigned as Justice Minister over Parliament's decision not to back some sections of his proposal for judicial reform on Wednesday.

Two other parties, however, declared they would remain part of the government.

BZNS leader, Defense Minister Nikolay Nenchev, is quoted by Dnevnik.bg as saying there is "political will" to keep the bloc afloat, amid speculation that diverging opinions might cause it to disintegrate.

However, neither Nenchev nor NPSD's chairman Korman Ismailov commented on whether they believed the RB should remain part of the government.
