Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Ivaylo Kalfin is to table a strategy on dealing with the demographic crisis facing the country by the end of this year.
In an interview for private Kanal 3 on Sunday, Kalfin noted that concrete bills on the topic will follow suit.
The deputy prime minister added that the strategy will be based on an analysis conducted by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAN).
According to him, the demographic policy should address not only birth and death rates, but should also feature measures on improving the quality of life.
In his words, it is also important to develop policies for retaining young people in the country.
Kalfin was firm that a single legislation or debate are not sufficient measures for a demographic policy.
