President Stoyanov met US senator Lugar who said that a large part of the US parliament supports NATO enlargement and is willing to back Bulgaria`s membership bid. The senator also said that Bulgaria should stick to the army reforms and the defence industry. Senator Lugar is known to be the first to speak about the enlargement of the North Atlantic Alliance back in 1992, two years before the Alliance took an official decision for that. In June, he addressed the US Senate in support of Bulgaria`s admission in NATO.
