'Mummified Alien' to Be Studied at Bulgaria UFO Conference
A 50-cm "mummified alien" with big eyes and no ears discovered inside a Mayan tomb in Mexico will be on display during an international conference bringing together UFO scientists from Europe and the Americas in Sofia, Bulgaria, this week.
From Friday through to Sunday, participants will try to “draw a taboo topic out of the shadows – the possible contact with other cosmic civilizations in the near future.”
“More and more documents and secrets are being unveiled,” even if this is happening little by little, Prof Lachezar Filipov, who works at the Institute for Space Studies with the Bulgarian Academy of Science, told private national NOVA TV station.
Last year, the Institute officially announced it would start studying UFO claims in response to growing public appetite.
Prof Filipov then cited the claims of a man who had reported seeing “large saucer of platinum colour, with no windows, hovering over Sofia's Kremikovtsi district” in mid-October but wished to remain anonymous.
A year on, he is still convinced: not only do they exist, but they also contact us.
“People like me are pointed at as mental hospital [patients in Bulgaria, whereas] my Irish counterparts received USD 1 M to make a camera to take pictures of aliens,” he complains.
„The only comforting thought comes from the Bible in the “likeness” [of God]. Maybe those who will come will look like us; they won't be cyclops.”
The discovery of the "alien" body sparked much controversy in Mexico. Local media outlets quoting officials, who launched an investigation after the body was found, as saying it actually belonged to a 2-year-old "native" (presumably Mayan) boy. Ufologists, however, are still disputing this.
The conference is taking place at the Russian Culture and Information Center on 34. Shipka Street, near the Sofia University.
Entry tickets are at BGN 40 (EUR 20), or at BGN 20 for students and pensioners.
