Sotir Gelev, the head of Sofia's emergency medical aid unit, confirmed there had been several incidents with people fainting at Arena Armeec hall, where ballots were being counted.
A Sofia hospital later confirmed a total of five women waiting to submit voting protocols were taken to the emergency room during the night, the website Dnevnik.bg reports.
One of the women, 31, is four months pregnant.
Reports of slow organization of ballot processing have been downplayed by electoral officials, who say the vote count is going smoothly.
