The wife of a mayoral candidate in the village of Kamen, Southern Bulgaria, has been injured in a blast at the candidate's home, media reports suggest.

The device was reportedly attached to a stone and thrown into the house of Yordan Todorov on Thursday evening.

Todorov is the candidate put forward by the movement of Yordan Lechkov, a renowned former Bulgarian footballer who served as Mayor of the town of Sliven between 2003 and 2011.

Todorov's wife, aged 70, was taken to hospital after the incident.

No official information has been available about who is suspected of having hurled the bomb into the couple's home.
