Fire Engulfs Building Housing Bulgarian, Polish Workers in Germany

At least twelve people were injured as a fire engulfed a building housing Bulgarian and Polish workers in the German town of Gudensberg on Monday.
Five of the people were heavily injured, but so far their identity and nationality have not been revealed.
A police spokesperson confirmed the fire, but authorities did not have any information on the possible causes, Deutsche Welle informs.
A speaker of the fire brigade explained that the half-timbered house was completely engulfed by flames from the ground floor to the roof.
The authorities evacuated the neighbouring houses and police cordoned off the area.
Except for a gable wall, most of the building had collapsed into the neighbouring house.
According to initial reports, 40 people were injured by the fire, but the number could not be confirmed.
A total of 48 people, mostly Bulgarian and Polish workers, have been registered as living at the address.
