Bulgaria's Viktor Yosifov was declared second best middle blocker of the tournament, while his fellow national Teodor Todorov was awarded as best middle blocker.

The captain of the Bulgarian men's national volleyball team, Vladimir Nikolov, was presented the FairPlay Award.

The dream team is made up exclusively of players of the four countries reaching the semifinals.

Together with the three Bulgarians, there are three players from the new European champion France, two Italians and one Slovak.

Antonin Rouzier of France was declared Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament, while his fellow nationals Earvin Ngapeth and Jenia Grebennikov became respectively second best outside spiker and best libero.

Third-place Italy is represented by Simone Giannelli and Ivan Zaytsev, who were declared respectively best setter and best oppposite.

Tine Urnaut, who became best outside spiker, is the representative of runner-up Slovenia.

The 29th edition of the tournament was co-hosted by two cities in Bulgaria (Sofia and Varna) and two Italian cities (Turin and Busto Arsizio) and lasted between October 9 and 18.

The last day of the tournament started with the third place match between the co-hosts Bulgaria and Italy, which was won by the latter with 1:3 (20:25, 14:25, 25:23, 20:25)).

This was followed by the final, which pitted against each other France and the surprise of the tournament Slovenia.

France, which was the favourite having won this year's edition of the World League, achieved a 3:0 (25:19, 29:27, 29:27) victory over its opponent.

The top seven teams in the final standing – France, Slovenia, Italy, Bulgaria, Poland, Russia and Serbia qualify directly for the final round of the 2017 edition of the tournament, which will be hosted by Poland.
