Turkish Prime Minister's Office has confirmed that two male suicide bombers were the perpetrators of the deadly twin blast in Ankara on Saturday, Anadolu Agency has reported.
Earlier reports have suggested that one of the suicide bombers might have been a female.
The death toll from the two explosions near the main train station of Turkey’s capital city has been updated to 97 from 95, according to a statement issued by late the Prime Minister’s Office late on Sunday, the Turkish news agency said.
Ninety two of the victims were identified and 91 of them were delivered to their families. The blasts, the deadliest of their kind in Turkey’s modern memory, also left hundreds of people wounded.
No-one has claimed responsibility for the attack that targeted a peace rally held to call for increased democracy and an end to the renewed fighting between the Turkish security forces and Kurdish rebels.
Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has suggested that the Islamic State group or Kurdistan Workers’ Party(PKK) were behind the blasts.
