Bulgarian Defense Minister has called on President Rosen Plevneliev to return draft changes to military intelligence law for consideration by lawmakers.

After Parliament passed an amendment to ban non-military officials from heading the Defense Information Service, Yordan Bakalov, currently taking office, doesn't meet the requirements anymore.

Proposed by opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party and backed by the country's main ruling party GERB, the amendment has met the resistance of junior coalition partner Reformist Bloc (of which Minister Nenchev is a member).

Nenchev has defended Yordan Bakalov, also a former caretaker Interior Minister, reminding that Prime Minister Boyko Borisov earlier delivered a positive assessment of his work.
