The forthcoming local elections and referendum on remote electronic voting, which are scheduled to take place in Bulgaria on October 25, are estimated to cost BGN 50 M.

This was announced by Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov at the regular meeting of the government on Wednesday, private bTV station reports.

The cabinet entrusted Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev with coordination of the organisation and tecnical preparation of the elections and the referendum, the government's press service informs.

Among his tasks is also coordinating with the Central Election Commission (CIK) the conditions and order on the production, delivery and storage of the ballot papers and other materials as well as the storage of the voting machines.

Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov has to table to the government a draft estimate of the expenses on the organisation, technical preparation and holding of the elections and the referendum in coordination with CIK.

The finance mister is also to propose a draft pricelist, which will determine what parties, coalitions and initiative committees will pay for broadcasts on the Bulgaran National Television (BNT) and Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) and their regional centers.

Donchev and Interior Minister Rumyana Bachvarova will be in charge of the tasks falling within the competencies of the interior ministry.

Regional Minister Lilyana Pavlova is responsible for compiling and publishing the electoral rolls, while Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov is tasked with organising, preparing and holding the referendum abroad.
