A Russian tourist has drowned in a storm near the Black Sea city of Varna, media outlets quote Russia's Vice Consul as saying.
"The storm went on for two days, on every Bulgarian beach red flags were hanging (which ban swimming). A young man was bathing in the sea on Saturday, when the storm was at its peak, and this body was found on the day after," Galina Petrovskaya, Russia's Vice Consul in Bulgaria, said according to RIA news agency.
Petrovskaya says the man entered the water with a friend who managed to get out.
The two had come to Bulgaria on a holiday just after completing military service (which is compulsory in Russia).
