Bulgaria: Firefighters Contain Forest Blaze Near Bulgaria’s Sunny Beach Resort

Firefighters have contained a wildfire north of Bulgaria’s Sunny Beach seaside resort and there is no risk to a holiday village located nearby, BGNES reported on Thursday.

No one was injured in the fire that broke out at about 2 p.m. (1100 GMT) and engulfed some 15 hectares of shrubs and dry grass close to Khanska Shatra restaurant situated on a hill north of Sunny Beach.

The flames, however, incinerated a stable, three horses and a parked car but the Sunny Beach Hills holiday village was not affected, police said.

Traffic on the main road along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, which is close to the wildfire area, remains difficult with visibility reduced by heavy smoke.
