`We have been working together and have decided to go on,` Romania`s Defence Minister Ioan Mircea Pascu said after meeting his Bulgarian counterpart Nikolai Svinarov in Plovdiv on 31 August. The Romanian minister strengthened his message adding that during the talks there was pointed out the idea of continuing the bilateral cooperation on the already existing bases, as a proof of the very good relations that Romania and Bulgaria have. `Bulgaria hailed the initiative considering it the right stance,` Minister Pascu stressed. The two defence ministers settled to meet for political and military consultations every time they need, either in Romania or in Bulgaria. Minister Ioan Mircea Pascu arrived in Plovdiv on Thursday to attend the ceremony marking the takeover by Romania of the Southeastern European Defence Ministers Meeting`s Coordinating Committee (SEDM-CC) and the Political Military Steering Committee (PMSC) chairmanship of the Multinational Peace Force in Southeastern Europe (MPFSEE). `It is a very important moment, taking also into account what is happening in our area and we think that it is in this way that it can be pointed out the contribution that Romania and the other countries members of the initiative can have to resolving the problems,` the Romanian defence minister said.
