Bulgaria Lags in Absorbing EU Funds, Risking Losses and Growing Debt
Bulgaria is falling behind in its utilization of European Union funds
‘’Bulgarian customs offices are doing very well,’’ said Prime Minister Boiko Borisov in a statement Wednesday. ‘’ Bear in mind that the price of petrol has been reduced by half and our incomes are much bigger than they were when the price was higher. We are now able to give a very positive assessment for the work of the customs so far.’’
Taxes collected in the first half of 2015 have already reached BGN 958 M more than the same period of the previous year. Borisov noted that this is a sign of optimism for the situation in the sphere and in Bulgaria altogether.
