Bulgarian security sector officials are holding on Monday a protest in Sofia for the fourth consecutive day.

The protest will also mark the second day of the tented camp, which was laid in front of the building of the National Assembly in Sofia on Sunday.

The officials are protesting against the foreseen pension reform and the increase of retirement age with two months per year, which have been proposed by Labour Minister Ivaylo Kalfin.

At present, the policemen can retire after accumulating 27 years of work experience, from which 18 years should have been spent within the system of the Interior Ministry, without a requirement for having to reach a minimum retirement age.

The chairperson of the trade union of Interior Ministry officials Valentin Popov announced that the protesters had a permission to lay the tented camp for a period of ten days.

Popov added that the protesters would like to hold talks with the parliamentary groups in order to be able to present their arguments and the protests will last until their demands are not fulfilled.

On the second day of the protests on Saturday, the participants demanded the resignations of Interior Minister Rumyana Bachvarova, her deputy Krasimir Tsipov and Chief Commissioner Nikolay Nikolov.
