‘’Fighting against poverty doesn’t happen through social benefits,’’ stated Bulgarian Social Minister Ivaylo Kalfin in an interview for NOVA television.
He commented on the found violations of the system executed by the Roma citizens of Ignatievo near Bulgaria’s Varna.
‘’For benefits to be received by a person, a social worker needs to have visited their home and established a professed need,’’ he added. Kalfin noted that he will also be counting on further assistance from the National Revenue Agency to further investigate the Ignatievo case.
He further expressed his hope that the panned amendments to the social care laws will make the system less easy to violate.
