The European qualification draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada, took place today at FIFA headquarters in Zurich
Sepp Blatter has been re-elected as FIFA President for a fifth term.
Blatter, 79, was given a new 4-year term by the 209 FIFA member associations at FIFA’s annual Congress in Zurich on Friday, according to reports of the BBC News.
Although Blatter failed to secure a two-thirds majority in the first round, with 133 votes in favor instead of the 139 votes needed, Prince Ali bin al-Hussein of Jordan conceded defeat before a second round was held.
Blatter was backed by 133 votes in the first round, while Prince Ali received 73 votes, and three ballots were spoiled.
