Macedonians in Macedonia place much more importance on living well than on nationality, an emphasis Russia cannot understand, a Bulgarian journalist wrote Friday.

Starting with his personal recollections about Arben Xhaferi, who led Macedonia's Democratic Party of Albanians (DPA) prior to the incumbent Menduh Thaci, Georgi Daskalov seeks to fend off Russian allegations Bulgaria might seek to annex Macedonia or part of it, in an opinion piece [BG] for daily Standart.

Xhaferi joked about partitioning Macedonia in his private conversations with Daskalov, while "15 years later Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says [these things publicly]".

In the journalist's words, despite obvious "injustice" with regards to the development of Macedonia after World War Two, realities in Macedonia make claims of any partitioning sound absurd.

"Even if it seems implausible - Albanians are Macedonians too and want [to be] neither with Tirana nor with Pristina. While Macedonian Macedonians are neither Bulgarians nor Serbs, they are like nothing else in the world", he writes, adding the latter are torn between their nostalgia for the Tito era and others are aspiring to get a Bulgarian passport in search of directions in their life.

"This has nothing to do with nationality. It has to do with the normal human desire to live well. This is something Russians will find hard to understand."

The simple fact that back in the 19th century there was a row between Eastern Bulgarian and "Macedonian" (actually Western Bulgarian) literates, writers who were each struggling to impose their own Bg dialect or to introduce as many of their own dialectal features, traits as possible in the recently codified New Bulgarian language shows that the "Macedonian" ones considered themselves Bulgarian and were frustrated with the fact that their "Macedonian" dialects were relatively poorly represented in the already standardized New Bulgarian (Neo-Bulgarian). Indeed present-day Bulgarian is a mix of dialects but the "Macedonian", southwestern ones are very poorly represented; then again the northwestern ones are (nearly) not at all represented.
Had they not have considered themselves Bulgarian in the first place, they would have ignored (Eastern) Bulgarian standardization of Neo-Bulgarian altogether and not even gotten into that sort of row.
Why didn't they argue with Serb literates, writers for a re-codification of New Serb language that would have included "Macedonian" elements???

Exactly. For instance take a look at this Lidiya Dimkovska (or Lidija Dimkovska): "we 'Macedonians' want to be friends with all our neighbors; we are all people after all; Albanians and F YROMians are for the first the united, how wonderful, that must mean we "Macedonians" are making progress tolerance-wise, we and the Albanians are united against Gruevski: all hypocritical lies. First of all Zoran Zaev is allowing F YROMian authorities to keep those innocent ethnic Albanians (wrongly accused of the young ethnic F YROMians fishermen's murders) in prison by not releasing the audio tapes where F YROMian secret service agents talk about killing those fishermen (their co-ethnics!!!) and making it to look like ethnic murders done by Albanians (Monstrum case).
Actually if you read the genius's "works", "poems" (Lidiya Dimkovska's, not Zoran Zaev's ;-) ) you will see she keeps stealing historical Bulgarian personalities and glorifies them as "Macedonian", you would expect such a poetry "genius" to do some more profound research into history, especially since she obviously knew and knows that Bulgaria Bulgarians (not F YROM renegade Bulgarians, the "Macedonians") claim them as "their" own. She has spent much of her life in Romania and now lives in Slovenia. Even if she hadn't been Bulgarophobic until then, she surely turn that way during her stay in Romania: actually that might have been the reason for her having wanted to live in Romania, the fact that she knew Romania is as anti-Bulgarian as F YROM. Now she's living in Slovenia, another former Yugoslav republic, she must be one of those extremely many Yugo-nostalgic "Macedonians" (possibly most of those F YROMians are Yugo-nostalgic, this doesn't happen in any other former Yugoslav republics, except maybe Serbia, but that's because Serbs were the masters in and of Yugoslavia, especially after Tito's death, its capital city was Belgrade, they were taking economic advantage of Croat and Slovene industry and tourism and so on).

If this were actually true they would stop calling themselves "Macedonians". All their fake history is doing is achieving is destabilizing the region. Most of them are Bulgarians.
