Polish voters are casting ballots for a head of state on Sunday, with incumbent Bronislaw Komorowski pointed as a potential winner by opinion polls.

There are a total of 11 candidates. Exit polls will be available after 22:00 local time, or 21:00 GMT, according to Radio Poland. Polls will close an hour earlier.

As of 12:00 local time, turnout has been nearly 15 percent.

Komorowski, who was been in office since 2010. A few months before he was elected, his predecessor Lech Kaczynski died in a plane crash alongside a number of officials who were flying to Smolensk, Russia, to attend a Katyn Massacre remembrance.

The head of state, allied with center-right Civic Platform, has Andrzej Duda of right-wing opposition Law and Justice party as his main challenger.

The Law and Justice party, which Mr Dida represents, is headed by the brother of former President <b>Lech Kaczynski</b> - Jaroslaw

Poland is due to hold parliamentary elections later this year.

A second round of the presidential vote is to be held on May 24 is there is no outright winner (with more than 50%).
