DECISION ON SALARIES INCREASE UNLIKELY SOON

There is some reserve in the public sector that may be used for increase of salaries, Minister of Finance Milen Velchev said. However, this increase most probably will not take place due to deficit in other budget items. The final decision on the salaries issue will be made in the end of September. Trade Unions claim that the available resources in the reserve are sufficient for a 12% increase in salaries. The minister of labour and social affairs Lydia Shuleva, though was adamant that the salaries in the state sector will not be increased since the cumulative inflation since the beginning of the year is less that the already granted 10% increase in April.
