Britain's newborn princess has been named Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, Prince William and his wife Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, have announced.
Kensington Palace said on Twitter the couple were "delighted" to announce the baby will be known as: "Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge," SkyNews reported.
According to Sky's Royal Commentator Alastair Bruce the name “will always provide a link to the past and opportunity for this young princess to create her own identity as Princess Charlotte."
The princess, born on 2 May, is the second child of William and Kate, the fifth great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II and the fourth in line to the throne.
