Modernized according to NATO standards aircraft runaway with additional facilities was opened at the Graf Ignatievo Air Base in Southern Bulgaria by Defence Minister Nikolay Svinarov. The renovation, including the construction of taxiways, parking areas and lighting installations, was completed for a very short period of three months by the Stara-Zagora Putstroy Engineering. The runaway was extended from 2.5 to 3km. It is one of the longest and with highest standards in Europe. Cargo and combat aircraft from all classes will be able to use the new facilities. Chief of the General Staff of the Bulgarian Army Miho Mihov attended the inauguration ceremony of the upgraded runaway too.
