Bulgarian Elected as Vice President of European Athletics

The President of the Bulgarian Athletics Federation Dobromir Karamarinov was elected as Vice President of the European Athletics at its 2015 congress, which took place in Bled on Saturday.
Karamarinov, who is also the President of the Association of Balkan Athletic Federations, became the first Bulgarian to be elected to the position, daily Dnevnik reports.
The Bulgarian, who has served as member of the Council of European Athletics and chairperson of a commission, was elected with 37 out of the total votes cast by the 50 Member Federations.
Karamarinov was the Vice President, who garnered the largest support, as the other two Vice President received respectively 33 and 32 of the votes.
Svein Hansen of Norway was elected as President of the European Athletics with 26 of the votes, succeeding the outgoing Hansjorg Wirz after he had been in office for sixteen years.
