Russian Agriculture Minister Nikolay Fedorov has said the cabinet might consider ending food import restrictions enforced with regard to "several EU member states."

Fedorov told reporters Tuesday the move would depend on "Russia's relations with separate states", according to TASS news agency.

This came as an answer to a question whether Moscow would lift the ban on Greek goods.

The list of countries might be set out by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Fedorov explained, adding the initiative had already been discussed in the government: "This [prospective list includes] Greece, Hungary, Cyprus. We have discussed these countries."

However, he dismissed suggestions that any type of decisions could be taken during Greece's Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras's visit to Russia.

Tsipras is in Moscow on April 8 and 9, in a visit that he hopes could boost relations with Russia and result in a closer cooperation, including a gas price discount for Athens and a possible inclusion of the country in the Turkish Stream gas pipeline project.

Russia introduced a ban on imports from the EU and various Western countries last August in retaliation to sanctions imposed on Moscow over the Ukraine crisis.

Restrictions were than said to be in force for a year, but no final decision has been announced as to whether they will be lifted after that period expires.
