Bulgaria under Potential Threat of an Attack against "Turkish Stream" on its Territory
As a country through which the Turkish Stream gas pipeline (TurkStream) passes, Bulgaria is in potential danger after the Nord Stream 1 and 2 explosions
The Bulgarian government sees no alternative to Russian gas supplies to Europe and is ready to examine the terms of receiving deliveries via Turkish Stream, according to Deputy Prime Minister Ivaylo Kalfin.
"Europe is now trying to limit the supply of Russian gas. However, there is no alternative at the moment. This is the position of the Bulgarian government and this is why we need to work together to ensure the most mutually beneficial terms of the supply of Russian gas to Europe " Kalfin said, as cited by Interfax and the BGNES news agency.
Kalfin, who arrived in Moscow on March 3, spoke after a meeting with Konstantin Kosachev, Chairman of the Council of the Federation Committee on Foreign Affairs.
He claimed that Bulgaria planned to examine the terms and conditions under which Russia intended to transport gas to Turkey.
Kalfin stressed Bulgaria’s readiness to bring up these issues on an EU level to discuss the possibility of restoring the Nabucco gas pipeline project.
