"No doubt" Sofia Gets 2007 EU Entry Date in Copenhagen

There is no doubt that the EU Copenhagen summit will name January 1, 2007 as Bulgaria's reference entry date. Parliament speaker Ognyan Gerdzhikov said that upon his return from Brussels where he attended a meeting of the European Parliament President Pat Cox with parliament speakers of EU applicants. Gerdzhikov said EU Enlargement Commissioner Guenter Verheugen mentioned this entry date will be fixed in Copenhagen as an entry date for both Bulgaria and Romania. Bulgaria's parliament speaker quoted high-ranking officials in Brussels who said that fifth wave of enlargement of the EU would not be considered before Sofia and Bucharest joined successfully.
