An act of provocation was committed in front of the Blagoevgrad mosque on March 3, prior the celebrations of Bulgarian Liberation from the Ottoman Empire.

Several pork legs and two animal hearts have been thrown right at the gate of the temple in the Southwestern Bulgarian city.

The vandal act occurs only a week after racist signs and writings were painted across the Gotse Delchev Office of Mufti. A year prior to this act, a Christian cross was put on the building, and the walls were painted with writings against former leader of Rights and Freedoms Movement (DPS), Ahmet Dogan.

The party is widely known for having predominantly Muslim members, but has been attracting ever more Christians after accusations of being formed illegally on ethnic and religious basis.

This was the cause of a civil protests of 500 people with demands for ethnic tolerance.
