The memorial service in honor of Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov started at 10 am Moscow time Tuesday.

Nemtsov was shot on February 27 in front of his girlfriend in the Russian capital, raising suspicions on ordered murder and the participation of the current Putin cabinet.

The politician was among the current Russian PM's fiercest critics. His funeral is to be held in the afternoon at the Moscow cemetery Troyekurovskoye, where journalist Anna Politkovskaya was also buried.

Thousands of people are entering the Sakharov center to bid last goodbye to former Deputy Prime Minister, RIA Novosty reported.

His mother and children are right next to his coffin accepting condolences from the attendees, including former PM Sergey Kirienko and Deputy PM Arkady Dvorkovich.

Meanwhile, several European politicians have been denied access to the memorial service. Among them are a Polish politician, whose Visa request was not complied with, as well as the Latvian MEP, who was not allowed to leave the Moscow airport, the BBC reported.
