The Director of the Executive Agency for Vines and Wine Krasimir Koev said that Bulgarians have drunk around 100 million litres of wine in 2014.

Koev announced that due to the poor weather conditions, 2014 has been the worst for the wine industry in the past 30 years, Darik radio reports.

Despite this, Bulgaria continues to export wine abroad and expands its markets in Europe, Asia and North America.

Koev expressed his hope that the wine from this year's vintage will be of very good quality, so that the Bulgarian products can be competitive.

In his words, the export for the 9-month period is approximately 45 million litres, destined primarily to Russia, Germany and the Asian market – China, Japan and Vietnam.

The yearly consumption in Bulgaria varies between 95 and 103 million litres.
