Bulgaria: Situation In Southern Bulgaria Slowly Returns To Normal After Floods Photo: BGNES


The situation in the regions along the rivers Tundzha and Maritsa in southern Bulgaria slowly returns to normal as the river waters are receding, reports the bTV national channel.

Some villages and towns, are still flooded or are in a state of disaster, while the authorities are dealing with the aftermath of the floods.

The residents of some of the villages are still evacuated after the water flooded their homes, while others refused to abandon their property.

Meanwhile, the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) has launched a donations drive for disinfectants, personal hygiene items and canned food for the residents of the affected areas.

Meanwhile, the situation in the Turkish town of Edirne, along the lower stream of Maritsa, continues to remain serious, reports the Bulgarian National Radio. Some areas have been flooded by the river and the residents are being evacuated.
