Russia is not going to participate in the EU meeting discussing the situation with the South Stream pipeline on Tuesday in Brussels.
“We are not an EU member state, so we are not planning on participating,” Russia's Energy Minister Aleksandr Novak told journalists, quoted by the TASS wire service.
The informal meeting of the energy ministers of Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, Italy, Greece and Romania was called in by the EC Vice-President for the Energy Union Maros Sefcovic last week. It will take place in Brussels on December 9.
According to the BNT public broadcaster, Bulgaria will be represented by the Deputy PM Tomislav Donchev.
Novak also said Russia was preparing to annul the intergovernmental agreements on the South Stream pipeline.
