The European Commission has emphasized that it has not insisted on the full suspension of the construction of the South Stream gas pipeline.

The press office of the European Commission told ITAR-TASS that the gas pipeline project was only supposed to be compliant with the EU’s Third Energy Package.

The press office of the Commission also noted that no official statement expressing Russia’s plan to drop the South Stream gas pipeline project had yet been submitted.
