Bulgaria to Lose USD 600 M over Suspension of South Stream – Ex-Minister
Former Energy Minister Rumen Ovcharov has estimated Bulgaria’s losses from the suspension of the South Stream gas pipeline at around USD 600 M.
In a Tuesday interview for the morning broadcast of Nova TV, Ovcharov noted that annual gas transit of 63 billion cubic meters would be redirected from Bulgaria to Turkey as a result of the decision of Russia to drop the South Stream gas pipeline project.
He emphasized that Bulgaria would not only lose money but also suffer geostrategic and political losses.
Ovcharov, Energy Minister in the socialist-led three-way coalition government (2005-2007), argued that it was a matter of time until Bulgaria was deprived of the current gas transit quantities, according to reports of dnevnik.bg.
“The government of Boyko Borisov will go down in history as the one which destroyed three large-scale infrastructure projects which could have helped Bulgaria emerge from the economic crisis,” he insisted, adding that Bulgaria would have been an entirely different country as a result of the implementation of these projects.

@Fester who said: ''Like it more every day Russian paid troll prostitute''
Who do you call prostitute? Turkey is a independant country who makes its own decisions. You should listen to your masters in Brussel. I think Bulgaria is the prostitute. And litteraly West Europe is full with bulgarian you know what mean.
This is a big deal for Turkey and Russia.
The Turks get gas (and with a small discount).
The Russians get to sell more gas.
The two countries doing billions more in business is good for them economically and politically.
Oh Dear, seems like the Commies are doing what they do best in Bulgaria, scare-mongering tactics and spreading mis-information. Typical.
I didn't see the TV interview, but where exactly does he pluck the figure US 600 million from. Probably from the sheep in the paddock, which are his namesake. I think Ovcharov the sheep herder, should stick to what he knows best.
He goes on to say...........

Refering to Belene NPP and South Stream, I don't know what the third project is (can someone tell me please); but the first 2 are Russian orientated projects which the BSP tried to get through for their Russian masters. No surprises there. Hence yes, BG would certainly be a different country if we continue to follow every whim and order of Russia.
