Bulgaria expects an increase by 4-6% in tourist numbers in the winter season, according to Blagoy Ragin, Chair of the Bulgarian Hotel and Restaurant Association (BHRA).

In a Wednesday interview for the Bulgarian National Radio, Ragin argued that 1% of the tourism revenues had to go to domestic and international advertising.

He suggested that the measure would result in 4% growth over the next 4 years.

The BHRA Chair recommended a several-fold increase in fines and a revocation of licenses of non-compliant entities, as well as including tourism experts in the panel of advisors of Bulgaria’s new Tourism Ministers.

On Wednesday, the BHRA is to hand out awards to the most successful entrepreneurs in tourism for the 18th time.
