The Bulgarian national team failed to beat Malta in a Sunday match played in Sofia.

Results came as a surprise to both the team and experts, since Bulgaria was expected to win and thus increase its chance to qualify for the Euro 2016 football tournament.

The team is now ranking fourth in Pool H and has only four points after the game, lagging five points behind Norway.

For Malta, this is the first match hosted by Bulgaria in which they manage to secure a point.

The first half was marked by a dominance of Bulgaria with a goal in the sixth minute, but were evidently relaxed after half-time and Malta found it easy to tie catching the opponent off-guard.

Bulgaria at the same time missed a number of chances to restore its lead.
