Bulgaria: PF Says GERB Failed to Include 'Key Priorities' in Gov't Program Valeri Simeonov (R). Photo by BGNES

Conservative GERB is refusing to adhere to some of the commitments on which it agreed with the Patriotic Front, PF's co-leader explained on Wednesday.

The program sent to the nationalist coalition does not contain some of PF's basic demands, including the preparation of a new Electoral Code (to make voting mandatory), tackling problems in energy and fighting petty crime, Simeonov announced in an interview with the Bulgarian National Television.

Late on Tuesday the nationalists declared they would not back a minority coalition of GERB and the Reformist Bloc (RB), the two entities which officially began discussions on a government lineup hours before.

GERB and the RB also said they had sent their cabinet program to the PF and left-wing Alternative for Bulgarian Revival (ABV) for approval and were expecting support for their coalition.

Simeonov added "no attempts at limiting the influence of votes... from Turkey" and moves to dismiss "cadres [appointed] on an ethnic [and] political basis" could be seen in the joint program.

"Our main priorities have not been adopted. We cannot accept a government that does not accept our main priorities."

He added his party was ready to throw its "partial support" behind certain ideas of the cabinet.

At the same time counting on the PF is vital to forming a government, since conservatives and right-wingers will be short of a parliamentary majority even if backed by ABV.
