A Canadian soldier was killed and a Parliament security guard was wounded in Ottawa on Wednesday in attacks by at least two unidentified gunmen.
Three shooting incidents were reported in Ottawa - at the National War Memorial, inside Parliament building nerby and at a nearby Rideau Centre Mall. The motive for the shooting remains unknown.
The soldier who was shot at the war memorial has died of his wounds, Employment Minister Jason Kenney wrote on Twitter.
"Condolences to family of the soldier killed and prayers for the parliamentary guard wounded. Canada will not be terrorised or intimidated," he wrote.
A suspected gunman was shot dead inside the Parliament building by the chief of parliament's security service.
Wednesday shooting comes two days after an Islamic convert ran down two Canadian soldiers with his car near Montreal. One of the soldiers was killed before the attacker was shot dead by police. The attacker was a Canadian man whom authorities were investigating for terror links.
