"I categorically declare the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) is ready" to be Bulgaria's second-largest political party, its leader Lyutvi Mestan said.

At the party's press conference after the elections, the party's leader also made clear his party would refrain from "non-partnership spells" for the moment and would be ready for any value-based partnership.

He commented on reports that results of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and the DPS were too close to call, with a parallel tabulation showing the two parties might switch places.

The Movement for Rights and Freedoms has stressed the importance of "reinstating the Euro-Atlanticist image of Bulgaria".

A strong vote for the DPS is very good news, since every single vote for the DPS is also one for national agreement.

The party is proud of being the first choice of Roma voters (a group among which it ranks first in terms of support), Mestan said, citing this as an example of multi-culturalism and democracy.

Mestan also vowed his lawmakers would reintroduce at the very beginning of the next Parliament the bill to lift the banking secret about Corporate Commercial Bank (KTB), the one it submitted in the last day of the previous legislature.

He added it was the other parties' problem what backdoor games would emerge out of the closet if the secret is unveiled.

The party is ready to support any government which provides a clear enough basis and to help restore the image of Bulgaria as an active EU and NATO member.

Mestan, however, doubted the prospects of setting up a government, arguing it had to be formed in compliance with Euro-Atlanticist values and he did not see such an inclination judging by other political parties' behavior.
