Bulgaria’s Reformist Bloc (RB) will support policies rather than parties or their leaders in possible talks on entering a government coalition, a leading RB member said on Sunday.

Bulgaria held early parliamentrary elections on Sunday, in which centre-right GERB party led by former Prime Minister Boyko Borisov won most votes but remained short of overall majority.

According to exit poll results released after voting ended at 7 pm, GERB won between 33.2% and 35% of the vote.

The right-wing Reformist Bloc, tipped by analysts as a likely partner of GERB in a future coalition cabinet before the vote, will only support a programme declaration for government, Petar Moskov told Nova TV station.

The bloc, a coalition of several small parties, got between 8.6% and 9.5% of the ballots cast, according to the results of four exit polls.

“New policies should be made by new faces, we shall support neither GERB, nor Boyko Borisov,” Moskov said.

His words echoed comments by another of RB leaders, Bozhidar Lukarski, who said earlier on Sunday the bloc would await the official results of the vote before talking about potential participation in a coalition cabinet.
