Voter activity in the early general poll held in Bulgaria on Sunday stood at about 39.5% of those eligible to vote as of 17:00 EEST, the election watchdog CEC has announced.

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has given out its last preliminary figures just hours before polling stations close in 19:00 EEST (17:00 GMT), but voting could be extended by an hour, or until 20:00, if there are queues.

Official results are to be made public by October 9, with MPs' names to be known by October 12.

However, the ban on reporting data from exit polls will be lifted as early as 19:00.
