EU Population Grows by Over a Million, While Bulgaria Continues to Shrink
As of January 1, 2025, the population of the European Union reached 450.4 million people
The construction of the third metro line in Sofia will start with the stretch between Yanko Sakazov boulevard and Borovo district, said caretaker Transport Minister Nikolina Angelkova.
It would be the most technologically complicated part of the route and will be financed by the EU Transport and Transport Infrastructure programme 2014-2020, she told journalists, quoted by the Focus news agency.
The same programme will finance the extension of the second line between Cherni Vrah boulevard and the Paradise Mall shopping centre.
According to Angelkova, under the programme Bulgaria had prepared projects for BGN 4 B, but they had to be updated, as the earmarked sum from the programme was EUR 1.9 B.
