US CONGRESS SUPPORTS BULGARIA`S WAY TO NATO

The majority in the US Congress supports Bulgaria`s candidacy for NATO membership. Chances are that next year Bulgaria is invited to join the pact although there is much to be done yet, said John McCain, a US senator John McCain /R/ after Petar Stoyanov awarded him with the Stara Planina order - I degree for his merits for the development of the bilateral relations and his consistent support for Bulgaria`s NATO aspirations. The guest s positively about McCain made a two-day visit to Sofia. He had talks with premier Saxe-Coburg and visited the Graff Ignatievo air base near Plovdiv. Senator McCain has been decorated with almost all US awards for his public service and political career. He served as a pilot in the US navy for 22 years during the Vietnam War.
