Ukrainian Woman Detained in Sunny Beach After Attempted Bribery of Police Officers
Bulgarian authorities found themselves grappling with a peculiar case involving a 60-year-old Ukrainian woman
Bulgarian hoteliers will stage a protest Wednesday at a section of the Burgas- Sunny Beach near Aheloy to demand a separate ministry of tourism and a solution to a number of other problems.
“Tourism is a fundamental sector of Bulgarian economy,” said Sunny Beach owners' union chairperson Elena Ivanova, as cited by the Bulgarian National Radio.
Apart from a separate tourism ministry, industry representatives are also calling for establishing the different national resorts as separate entities with their own structure, management, funding and administration of core activities.
Hotel operators complain of the lack of qualified employees and seek measures aimed at guaranteeing their qualification and the quality of the tourist product.
They also insist that a “Tourism Police” unit should be set up at the Interior Ministry.
Hoteliers also demand a review of Bulgaria’s visa policy of the country and solutions to infrastructure problems in the region of Sunny Beach such as the construction of a 4-lane road from Burgas airport to the resort.
