Bulgarians Celebrate Trifon Zarezan – Day of the Vine Growers and Winemakers
Today Bulgarians celebrate Trifon Zarezan in the old style - the feast of the vine-growers and wine, also known as Zarezanovden, Trifun Chipia and Trifun Zarezoy.

The wine market will not be affected by unfavorable climate conditions, according to Vasil Grudev, Bulgaria's caretaker Minister of Agriculture and Food.
Speaking Tuesday at the official start of grape harvest in the southern Bulgarian village of Chernogorovo, Pazardzhik District, he noted that some 200 000 tonnes of grapes were to be harvested, out of which around 140 million litres of wine were to be produced in 2014.
Grudev, as cited by econ.bg, informed that Bulgaria had exported a total of 22 817 993 litres of wine in the period January – end-June 2014.
He also said that there were 230 registered winemakers in Bulgaria.
Grudev explained that the totall area under vines of wine grape varieties amounted to 60 299 hectares, while the total production potential stood at 80 252 hectares.
The inauguration of the grape harvest in Chernogorovo was also attended by Krasimir Koev, Executive Director of the Bulgarian Executive Agency on Vine and Wine.
