BGN 229.93 M is the net profit of the banking sector for the first seven months which is with BGN 9.94 M less compared to the same period in 2001, the Bulgarian National Bank /BNB/ data shows. However, the profit from the banks has increased with BGN 26.6 M as from the end of July. The revenue increase is due to the high financial results of the three leaders in the sector: Bulbank, United Bulgarian Bank and the State Savings Bank. BGN16.36 M is the July profit of these banks, which marks a 16 times increase compared to the June profit. The total profit /with the bank assets/ of the first bank group, formed by the above three banks is BGN 172M. The profits of the banks of the second group increased with BGN 5M compared to June. Third and Fourth bank groups have a profit of respectively BGN13.2 M and BGN6.7 M. Both groups have a higher profit for the last month. Only the fifth bank group that includes the branches of the foreign banks has a BGN 2.28 M loss.
